THE WORLD RAGES ON

"Why do the nations rage against you." - Psalm
2:1
Barnes Notes says the word gives, "the image of a
mob, or of a tumultuous unregulated assemblage, would probably convey
the idea of the psalmist." After the Christians in the New Testament
suffered persecution by the elders and chief priests, they quoted this
same verse.
"David Your servant, said, 'WHY DID THE GENTILES RAGE, AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS? 'THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS CHRIST.'" - Acts
4:25,26
Today the nations rage against Christ and His church.

In Canada, if you preach that homosexuality is a sin, you could easily be hauled into court for committing a "hate" crime. For now, at least, the courts (go here) in the United States are siding with the church's right to proclaim the truth. We shall see how the courts do when over a man who is suing Bible publishers for printing Bibles that contain what he claims is hate speech - saying that homosexuality is a sin. more...

Watch television any night of the week. Where is a realistic father depicted who is not an out of touch buffoon? Where is a normal family depicted with children who respect their parents? It doesn't much matter the channel or the time slot when you will see the heathen railing against Jesus Christ and His truth. On TV, Christians are depicted as the unacceptable freaks. Examples abound that the aim is to put forward what is anti-christian, non-traditional. One example is NBC's "Heroes", which is a Monday night show. From the November 20, 2006 program, the homosexual lifestyle was promoted. It took just a few weeks for this new show to depict a homosexual encouraging a straight friend to be yourself and "let your freak out". The segment of this episode was devoted to the cultural message that it's OK to be gay, as if homosexuality was an evolutionary process in the show. Christianity says that homosexuality is abnormal. Don't believe for a second that young people are not being shaped by these messages. Television and movies are raging against the morality of Christianity. Another NBC show on Monday night is set in Hollywood on Sunset Strip. The lone "christian" on the show, while taking arrows for some moral positions, is sleeping with men out of wedlock. No one, including the female depicting a christian, sees the moral conflict of committing fornication. The "christian" representation is not a favorable thing for Christianity; it is a slap at Christianity because the lone "christian" is obviously living contrary to the Bible. But then again, the show may be depicting the only kind of a "christian" that could function in such an environment.

As in the past, godless men rage against Christ. And just as they oppose Christ, they rail against anyone who lives and speaks about the true Christian faith. We need strength and courage to not shrink back.
