GOD'S PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG

So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him. - Mal. 3:18
It's terrible when things get all mixed up in a person's mind. Up can become down and good can become evil in their minds. This happened to God's people more than once. When God blessed them, they gave thanks to the false gods. When God was disciplining them to bring them to repentance, they considered it evil. In Malachi, it says, "So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up but they also test God and escape." The people had lost their compass of right and wrong to judge God evil and to somehow come to the conclusion that God blesses the evil. But this is the deluding power of sin that it clouds our judgment. We can begin to think we are wiser than God.

Malachi is a prophet who pointed to the Christian age with specific references to John the Baptist coming to prepare the way for Jesus Christ (See Mal. 3:1; 4:5,6). This would be a time of restoration when the hearts of men would be turned aright. And a characteristic of the restored, remnant people of God would be a restored sense of right and wrong. "So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him."
