WE GO MAD

Sometimes we go crazy because there's no relief from the troubles we have created for ourselves. Moses warned that if God's people turned away from Him, "34 You will go mad because of all the tragedy you see around you." - Deut 28. How real is that madness? Very real. And guess what? It's not popular to say.

The modern template for explaining insanity or emotional imbalance is that certain chemicals need to be managed and the person will come back to a normal functioning state. But what about the circumstances all around us that make us go crazy?

When a man denies reality by rejecting God, and aligns his thinking and doings according to his own vain reasonings, he ushers in mixed bag of nonsense to draw from when ordering his affairs. This life built on base reasonings is built on worthless chaff which eventually disintegrates before our eyes. With all of your works coming to nothing and with nothing real to turn to (having already ruled out God) the only option is desperation and insanity. Many of the mad, crazy, nutty people in the world are that way because they have opted to believe a lie.

You're an animal, a monkey's uncle. The unborn fetus is non-viable tissue. Women are the same as men. Homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle, equal to heterosexual relationships. Marriage isn't only for heterosexual couples. Government should decide what our children believe. Parents have very little say concerning the direction children go. Jesus is just one way to heaven, not the exclusive way to heaven. It doesn't matter what you believe, truth is subjective and private. God is a God of love and won't punish people for eternity. What lies have we accepted? It's an important question because God will let us believe a lie if we so insist. And Satan will be more than happy to feed us the lie if we don't love the truth. Madness will surely come upon those who reject God and the reality of His will for us.

God said to Cain, “If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” - Gen 4. Cain's unbridled anger, his selfishness, his rejection of God's will was making him crazy. But if he would only do right, his spirits would be lifted.

God said for Christians to be happy. Paul said more than once not to be anxious and to rejoice always in the Lord. The is a certain mindset, a joyful mindset that accompanies the Christian life. If you aren't there yet, it might be time to stop trifling with God, to be still and listen to the Lord, and let His will overtake you. And the God of peace will be with you and your mind and heart will be overtaken with a peace that surpasses comprehension. That is not an idle, "pie in the sky" promise coming from the Lord. It's real and tangible. And so is the crazy, frenetic, condition of the mind that continues to resist the leading of God. Prayerfully consider these truths. It's time for us all to "be still and know that I am the Lord."
