CHRISTIANS LOVE AND HATE

"The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom,", Pro. 15:33
Fear and love and hate all reside in the child of God. This is not being taught today, not in the world that's pushing diversity and non-judgment. But what the world teaches is often wrong. And it's not ever surprising that people distort the Gospel.

The normal relationship with God includes love and fear. Jesus said to, "fear Him who can destroy body and soul in hell", Mt. 10. Fearing God means the abolishing of a lot of fears, like the fear of Satan and the forces of the world. "Perfect love cast out all fear" because fear involves punishment - from Satan and the world, 1 Jn. 4:18. The reason some are silent, not confessing Christ, is due to their fear or punishment from those opposed to Christ. What it means is they fear the world more than they fear God. But when we love God, we fear Him, and we fear the world less.

Two other things also reside in the Christian: love and hate. Proverbs 8:13 says, "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate." When we love and fear God, then we love and hate the things which God hates.

I have heard people say that "Christians don't hate." Well such a blanket statement is inaccurate. It is true that Christians should be very loving. But there are some things that Christians hate. Look at the verse again. Love and hate are the opposite of each other. And it's impossible that we can love evil. It's impossible that we can love arrogance or the perverted mouth.

The Psalmist said he hated God's enemies. "20 For they speak against You wickedly, And Your enemies take Your name in vain. 21 Do I not hate those who hate You, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with the utmost hatred; They have become my enemies" (Ps 139:20-22).

When someone makes the blanket statement that "Christians shouldn't hate", kindly ask them if they want to clarify their position. Jesus said that you can't have two masters because you will hate one and love the other. It's impossible to love God and love your enemy. If you love God, then you must hate His enemies, just as the Psalm says.

So let's make it clear and make the proper distinctions lest we be fooled to thing we are to love "everything" or that "Christians don't fear God." If we love "everything", then we are on the opposite side of God. And if we don't fear God, then we do not understand Him. Solomon said, "Fear God and keep His commandments is the whole duty of man."
