FAITHFULNESS WHEN THE LORD RETURNS

Jesus asked, "...when the Son of man returns, will he find faith on the earth?" - Lk. 18:8
There's going to be a 2nd coming of Jesus and it will be a day of salvation and a day of wrath for those who have not obeyed the Gospel, Heb. 9:27,28; 2 Thess 1:6-9. The question is a good one: will God find people ready? Will their wicks be trimmed? Will they be clothed in Christ? Will they be awake or asleep? It's a good question question, nay, it's the most pressing question.

Will he find faithful Christians who are considered fanatical and a little weird by the world?
11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. 12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. - 1 Pt 2:11,12
Will he find humble servants who give and contribute more than they receive?
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." - Mk 10:45
Will he find the Gospel being preached without the subtle but damning distortions required to fill the stadium churches?
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed ! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed ! - Gal. 1
Will He find men still loving and supporting the wife of their youth? The faithful fidelity of the church should be pictured in the marriage.
"31 FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. 32 This mystery is great ; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church." - Eph. 5:31,32
Will he find New Testament churches that haven't become entertainment driven imitations?
"...Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing ; but that she would be holy and blameless." - Eph. 5:25-27
Will He find Elders and Preachers who remember what their job is to attend to prayer and to ministry of the Word. Speaking to Elders, Paul said,
"32And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified." AND "11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ." Eph. 4:11-13, Acts 20:32, cf 1 Pt. 5:1-4
Will He find holy people or will he find his people watching people undress in the latest R-rated movie or surfing the web for smut?
"16 because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." 17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;" - 1 Peter 1
When the Lord returns will He find people who are eagerly awaiting?
"27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him." - Heb. 9:27,28
If our Christianity has been made palatable to the unrepentant, when the LORD returns will He even recognize us? Will He say, "Welcome!" or will He say, "I never knew you, you who practice lawlessness." - Mt. 7:23 By faith I know that the world is not eternal and I know that this world will have an ending. The Lord Jesus who is risen from the grave and offers victory to Believers is coming again in the clouds. I want to be ready for that day. Will the Lord find us ready?
