HOW SATAN ATTACKS

Through the Ears; the tickling of the Ears. "3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." 2 Tim 4:3,4. Through the desire many have to find a pleasing message that appeals to the greatest number of people and requires the least amount of change is a reason that Satan can attack through false teaching and ignorance.

Through Lies and by works of Deception does Satan attack. Counterfeit religion is designed by the devil to fool people. It is the Truth that sets you free and Satan knows it. The best he can do is manufacture something that looks like Truth with his lies and deceptions, John 8:32,44. Satan has flooded the world with lies. Sometimes the lies are the extreme opposite of the Truth and are easily distinguishable. But oftentimes the lies look almost identical to the Truth, with only minor alterations, Gal. 1:6-8. The method is to flood the system in hopes of making people despair of ever finding the Truth.

Concerning this point, lies don't beget the fruit of Truth. Satan's weakness is that he can't produce the fruit of Truth, but he knows many will be fooled. "Well they appear to have the same precious faith that Christians have and so I conclude they are the same." The lie begets something not of God. It is the Truth of God that begets a Christian. Someone who accepts that our denominational friends are teaching and believing lies, but are still producing the fruit of salvation, has been fooled to believe the counterfeit.

Through personal Pride and by and appeal to one's vanity. Satan attacks because he knows if your ego is easily bruised and that you can't admit fault. Satan appealed to Jesus by offering him authority over all the kingdoms of the world, Lk 4:5-8. With most people, the offer doesn't have to be as grand as this but still they make the bargain. A preacher with an inflated ego may search the Scriptures to find something new that no one else has taught. He main gain popularity for his curious interpretation, but he will ride that little train to hell. There is nothing new. The Truth is preached in the Bible. The Truth has been preached by Bible preachers since the beginning. And the Truth is preached every Sunday around the world. If you have something "new", you either have something that is just new to you or else you have something of the devil. So silence the ego before it destroys you. The inflated ego will defend the vilest error and the most illogical schemes.

By the Eyes, Satan attacks with enticements from the world and from things that aren't yours to be had. "The lust of the eyes" is part of what deceived Eve in the garden, as it says the fruit was "a delight to the eyes", 1 John 2:15-17; Genesis 3. Look, everything beautiful wasn't meant for your personal consumption! For us, the forbidden fruit can be a beautiful face or a beautiful body that entices a person to sin, leading him to cast aside all reason and truth. Through the eyes, pornography marches straight to the soul, brazenly passing the sentries of conscience and Truth, as every safeguard is disarmed. Holiness is destroyed through the lust of the eyes. Satan is behind that porn web-site.

By violence. When all else fails, Satan attacks by killing an opponent. When the religious leaders couldn't stand the hear Stephen speak truth, they killed him by stoning, Acts 7:54-60. Saul was there prior to being concerted to Christianity. I imagine Saul a few moments of melancholy in later life as his mind replayed what he participated in. Thank God for grace. But the devil will have none of that grace business. He is interested in one thing which is to attack and destroy any voice that gets in his way. If assassination of the character doesn't silence the person, the devil will incite violence to destroy the very life. If Satan is going to have his way with you, this is the best option because it implies the person would not yield to his other tricks.

Are you prepared for the spiritual battle that's coming? Dress yourself in the full armor of God, Eph. 6:10-18. Don't fall prey to Satan and be a victim of his attacks. Stand firm in your faith and resist him, James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8,9. God bless and keep you.
