BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS

God says and reminds all who will hear that He is holy and nothing impure can come into His presence. "Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor..." Hab 1:13; cf Rev 21:27.  Yes, God makes a distinction between what is holy and profane.

The priests, Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, learned and were taught this lesson when they mingled the holy and unholy so that God's wrath was stirred and He killed them. God said to Moses, "10 and so as to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean, 11 and so as to teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them through Moses." Lev 10:10,11. It has always been God's design that men be righteous and that they make every effort to avoid all that is sin and all who are sinful. Because God is holy, His people are to be holy in all their behavior, 1 Pt 1:14-16.

To walk with Christ and to have the fruit of the Spirit is to be godly or god-like. All that God has done through His beloved Son to redeem man from sin is to restore sinful man back into a happy and blessed covenant life with Him.

Don't break through God's barriers of holiness by becoming like the sinful world.  The Apostle writes,

"14 Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. 17 "Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord. "AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you. 18 "And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me," Says the Lord Almighty." 2 Cor. 6.

It is amazing that God desires a familial relationship with His children. But to be sons and daughters, there must be a clear distinction in how they live from the world. They "come out from their midst" and are "not bound together" with them "being separate" from the world is essential to have the right to be welcomed into the sanctuary of the Lord.  Psalm 24:3ff asks who may enter God's sanctuary? The answer is those who have clean hands, a pure heart, who have not lifted up their souls to falsehood, nor have they spoken deceitfully. God established the rules for having fellowship with Him. And spiritual people keep themselves from their feet and eyes and mind away from the immoralities of the world.

Do not break through the boundaries established by God so that you walk in sin.  In the days of Noah, it says, "1...it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose." Gen 6:1,2. Just as Paul said in 2 Corinthians that Christians are not to be bound together with unbelievers, so there was the mingling of the good and evil in the days of Noah and we see what evil was wrought.

Compromise and you lose your spirituality.  The holy and loved relationship with God is too valuable to jeopardize by dabbling and playing with the world.  We must be always on our guard that we not be deceived to compromise our way with God.  Respect the barriers of holiness and abstain from all that is wicked.
