YOU MUST BELIEVE

The miracles of the Bible are often said to be a sticking or stumbling point causing people to disbelieve the Bible. They stumble over the garden of eden and the forbidden fruit. They stumble over the six literal days of creation. They stumble over the worldwide flood and they stumble over the great fish swallowing Jonah. The skeptic will ask "do I have to believe these things to be a Christian?"

We see in the Scriptures that it matters what a man believes. Jesus said, "unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins." To be saved one must believe in the Jesus who is presented in the Bible.

The Lord Jesus said for us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. And we know that the Gospel of Jesus is the story of His life, death, burial, and resurrection from the grave. Is it necessary for a skeptic to believe that the Almighty God could and did raise the dead? Is it necessary for him to believe that there's something more than what we see?

Unless someone believes in the Son of God, risen and reigning, he cannot be saved. A person who is to be saved and have eternal life must believe in things that are not explainable by naturalistic and "scientifically provable" means. If you are able to accept the virgin birth of Christ, is it harder to believe that Jonah survived three days in the belly of a great fish? We must believe in Almighty God and in His Son, Jesus Christ. We must believe in the miraculous works of God through Jesus Christ.
