THE END OF DISAPPOINTMENT, Dan Mayfield

When I was 19 and 20, I was filled with too much of the hopeless life that the world said would satisfy me, and I believed I was going to be dead by the age of 30. I didn't know why or how it would happen, but the weight was great upon me and my sweet, god-fearing wife could only console me for so long. She didn't have the cure I needed which would come in like a flood when I learned of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, Isa 59:20. Jesus Christ was the end of disappointment in my life.
"BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." 1 Pt 2:6; cf Rom 10:11
Look at the last words: "will not be disappointed.' Peter is talking to a people who have been sorely troubled in this life for no greater crime than that they believed in Jesus. The Apostle reminds them that they are merely passing through this life and have a great reward and a reason to be hopeful.

"Let not your heart be troubled." Jn 14. A man can be in the darkest and gravest of situations in this life, and he can feel that hope is gone, but when he learns of Christ his despair is replaced with hope that cannot be silenced, 1 Pt 2:9. Paul and Silas sang and prayed even while the sting of the beating they received continued. Christ gave them joy when the world would see only hopelessness. There was disappointment, but now the stranger and alien is overflowing with joy and hope. God always lifts the countenance of a man. God has the secret of life that all of the self-help gurus offer in vain. A man who was ready to call it quits, after only an hour of hearing the sweet message of God's love and the salvation in Jesus His Son, this man now sits with tears of joy and is ready to follow Christ. Suddenly, there's light. Suddenly there is possibility. Suddenly there is clarity. He walks forward in that hour and calls on God to cleanse his soul in the waters of baptism, Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38,21. Salvation in Jesus is the end of disappointment.
"Without hope and without God in this world", Eph 2:12.
The masses have been lied to to believe that life is about "living it up." Satan has promised the world what he can't give and the young people are responding in mass with the anthem, "let us eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die." 1 Cor 15:32. The "enlightened" world that thought It was doing good by throwing off the constraints of God, have replaced it all with a garment of meaningless existence. It is no wonder that young people feel let down after accepting the message that that pleasures of the moment are the highest good so that a bottle, a pill, a gun, a jump, or a bridge abutment seems a viable last resort.

Believing in Christ has a great hope, certain and sure, when fixed on the grace to be revealed when Jesus comes to gather His people. Jesus is the end of disappointment. If you believe in Him you will not be disappointed. So live. Rejoice, Tell the world of how excellent God is.

Did Jesus change your life? Tell us how. Share and inspire.
