THE TEMPLE OF GOD IS A PLACE OF PRAYER, Dan Mayfield

"12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. 13 And He said to them, "It is written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER '; but you are making it a ROBBERS' DEN." Mt 21:12-13.

The Herodian temple was physically destroyed by the Romans in 70ad. But the Jewish leaders had destroyed it's usefulness long before by departingfrom true worship and
reverence for God. The cursing by Jesus of the fig tree for it's deadness was a metaphor, perhaps, for the deadness of religion going on at the temple. Jesus twice (Jn 2 and Matthew 21) cleared the temple of the money changers and rebuked the leaders for making the temple of place of merchandise for robbers and thieves. But God has a temple. The child of God is the temple of God. Therefore make it a house of prayer. Be a house of prayer.

"19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." Ephesians 2:19-22.
