The use of images was forbidden in the Law of Moses. But it is a law that transcends time that no image  10 has been removed, popularly so, in order shield criticism for having gold, silver, wood images?
or any substitute should be set up to be revered. "29 Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man." Acts 17:29. Do you notice which of the
An example of transcendent laws is the first great commandment. The Jews would recite daily what was called the Shema from Deuteronomy 6:4-5 which Jesus repeats, saying, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, teh LORD is one, And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all
your strength.'"Mark 12:29-30.
Though Christians have been saved by God under a new and better covenant than that which Moses inaugurated, there are aspects of the Law that transcend time, always applying to man's relationship to the LORD. Because the first great commandment is transcendent, so is the second that God's children are not to have graven images.
