CHRISTIAN BE CAREFUL WHO YOU FELLOWSHIP WITH

The Christian community has fellowship with fellow Christians and with God. Fellowship is the close sharing that people of like-mind have (Acts 2:42). Being devoted to fellowship also means not eating with false teachers. John writes,
"8Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. 9Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting." (2 John 1:8-10).
The false teacher, who may be in our midst, does not have the Father or the Son, which means he is lost and has no fellowship with the Godhead. Now does it make sense for the Christians to have fellowship with known false teachers who don't have the Father and the Son? Certainly it does not make sense to eat with and rub shoulders with those who teach error.

Because we love the truth and because we walk in truth (2 John 1:2-4), we cannot even give the appearance that we are in fellowship with false teachers. Do they teach error? We cannot eat with them and give to others the impression that we are unconcerned. This takes courage and conviction from Christians to know where to draw the line of fellowship. Otherwise, we risks being "a participant in their evil deeds." (2 John 1:11). For the greater good, decide now that you will not fellowship with false teachers. Instead even expose them, (Eph. 5:11; 1 John 4:1ff).
